WishWoody Acres Ranch would like to announce the up and coming Drum Mare “Wish” to our herd. Wish is registered with IDHA (International Drum Horse Association).  She is a July 2013 baby and is a black and white Tovero, tall and more refined than some of the Drum horses you see out there. She has good hair and nice bone. She is a sweet, kind filly – willing to climb into your back pocket if you allowed her.  Wish’s SIRE is Latcho Tango who is homozygous black and heterozygous for tobiano

Time is moving fast and this year’s weekends are filling up fast.  We will be attending our first show of the season at the Oregon Horse Center in Albany, OR.  We will be attending the 1st of 5 WSSH shows for this year.

We will then be attending 2 breed shows at the Oregon State Fairground May 19-21 and Sept. 1-3 so be sure to stop by and say hi.

Big year for Wish, we began the year with our breed shows and WSSH shows.  We came home with lot’s of blue ribbons and a happy horse. Photos to come…

Wish will begin saddle work this fall – this is her first time having anyone on her – she walked w/o any issues.

Wish will be at the Oregon Horse Center for a breed show, join us and come say, “Hi”.

Woody Acres Ranch would like to present our newest International Drum mare, Rolling Thunder Magick Drum.   Magick’s DOB is 6/14/14 and we plan on breed showing her till she is of age to start.  At that point, she will be started under saddle for Dressage, trail riding and moving cattle.  In the future, she will be bred to our stallion HYT WAR Drums Sebastian.

Percentages: 50% Gypsy and 50% Clydesdale. Color: Bay and White IDHA #: D0417M

Magick is just beginning some saddle work but all her classes were halter classes at the breed shows….here are her accomplishments for one show.

Magick Mt Hood 2016

Her first show with us will be 10/17,18 in Eugene, Oregon at the Oregon Horse Center.  Expect to see more from this flashy filly!!

HYT Portia

Portia 2012-11-04HYT Portia.

Portia was an International Drum Horse, she was born on earth 6/7/08 to 11/26/13. Portia was only 5½ but already starting 2nd Level Dressage with her rider Melanie Woody for the 2014 show season. We will miss her greatly!

As a 16H mare, she moved quietly and rhythmically, especially for only being 4 years old. We started her ourselves in December 2010 and began showing in the spring of 2011. During that year she competed in Dressage levels Intro and Training, scoring in the mid 60’s to low 70’s.

In 2012, she finished training level and finished the year doing First Level Test 1, a great accomplishment for both horse and rider who had only been riding Dressage since December 2010. We were planning the 2014 show season at recognized shows doing Second Level before she passed.

These horses make great family, trail, kid and show horses. When Portia was only 3 years old I was comfortable enough to allow a 3 year old child to ride her. This breed has a disposition like no other: safe, forward, comfortable, and flashy!
